Dental Crowns – Restore & Protect Your Teeth with Strong, Natural-Looking Crowns

A dental crown is a custom-made cap that covers a damaged, weakened, or cosmetically imperfect tooth, restoring its strength, function, and appearance. Crowns are designed to match the shape, size, and color of natural teeth, offering a long-lasting solution for tooth restoration.

At AA Dental Studio, we provide high-quality dental crowns in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, in the vicinity of Bahria Town, and DHA, ensuring a seamless, durable, and natural-looking smile.

Dental crowns come in various materials, each offering unique benefits:

  1. Porcelain (Ceramic Crowns) – Best for front teeth, offering a natural, tooth-like appearance.
  2. Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal (PFM Crowns) – A combination of metal strength and aesthetic porcelain finish.
  3. Zirconia Crowns – Extremely strong and durable, ideal for both front and back teeth.
  4. Gold & Metal Crowns – Highly durable but less aesthetic; used for back molars.
  5. Composite Resin Crowns – More affordable but less durable compared to other options.

Which Crown Is Best for You? Our experienced dentists will recommend the best material based on your specific dental needs, budget, and aesthetic preferences.

A dental crown is necessary in the following cases:

  1. Severely Decayed Teeth – When a filling is not enough to restore the tooth.
  2. Broken or Cracked Teeth – To protect and strengthen damaged teeth.
  3. Root Canal-Treated Teeth – To provide reinforcement after a root canal.
  4. Worn-Down Teeth – Due to grinding (bruxism) or acid erosion.
  5. Large Fillings – When a tooth has a large filling with minimal natural structure left.
  6. Dental Bridges – Crowns support dental bridges to replace missing teeth.
  7. Cosmetic Enhancement – To improve the size, shape, or color of a tooth.
  8. Dental Implants – Crowns are placed on top of implants to complete the restoration.

1.Initial Consultation & Tooth Preparation

  • The dentist examines the tooth and takes X-rays.
  • The tooth is shaped and filed to make room for the crown.
  • If needed, a root canal is performed before crown placement.

2. Digital Impressions & Temporary Crown

  • Digital or traditional impressions are taken for a precise fit.
  • A temporary crown is placed to protect the tooth while the permanent crown is crafted.

3. Permanent Crown Placement (2nd Visit)

  • The temporary crown is removed, and the permanent crown is checked for fit, color, and bite alignment.
  • The final crown is cemented securely in place.

Procedure Duration: 2 visits over 1-2 weeks (same-day crowns available for some cases)

Benefits of Dental Crowns

  1. Restores Tooth Strength & Function – Protects weakened teeth from further damage.
  2. Enhances Aesthetics – Improves tooth shape, size, and color for a beautiful smile.
  3. Long-Lasting Durability – High-quality crowns last 10-15+ years with proper care.
  4. Supports Adjacent Teeth – Essential for bridges and implant restorations.
  5. Protects After a Root Canal – Prevents fracture of a treated tooth.

Risks of Dental Crowns

  1. Tooth Sensitivity – Temporary sensitivity to hot or cold after placement.
  2. Chipping or Fracture – Porcelain crowns can chip if excessive force is applied.
  3. Loose or Dislodged Crown – If the cement weakens over time.
  4. Allergic Reactions – Rare, but possible with metal-based crowns.
  5. Gum Irritation – Some patients may experience mild gum soreness.

Solution: Regular dental checkups and avoiding hard foods or teeth grinding will extend your crown’s lifespan.

  1. Avoid hard and sticky foods (e.g., ice, caramel, chewing gum) for a few days.
  2. Brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste and floss gently around the crown.
  3. Use a nightguard if you have bruxism (teeth grinding).
  4. Schedule regular checkups to ensure the crown remains secure and intact.
  5. If your crown feels loose or falls off, contact your dentist immediately.

Recovery Time: Minimal discomfort for 1-2 days, full adjustment in a few weeks.
